Jiri Nieuwenhuis - Work in process
She experiences the world, her versatility often overwhelming. These impressions manifest into a multitude of movement and structures in her paintings. Important is the visibility of the process, the consideration, always the consideration, actually visible in the overlapping of colour and shape planes. The rhythm, the coherence. And then finally the moment when the painting is a whole. Of course the grand gesture, the focus, the sharpening. No conclusive story, no framed narrative, but freedom.
A search for a value of being present. Such a value emerges, sometimes very explicitly with strong contrast and wild movements, sometimes subtly as a folding field or a reverie. The work results in a self-contained image with an open structure and visual urgency. With room for doubt and probing. Not a polished utopia.
