Vis in roze kinderwagen op straatstenen trottoir

Pulchri Studio has the honour of inviting recent graduates from various academies across the country to become members of their association. They also offer them the opportunity to exhibit their work free of charge in their first solo exhibition within the gallery. This initiative is made possible thanks to the support of the Pulchro Sacrum Foundation. In this exhibition, it is Jojo Knowles' (SE/USA) turn. She graduated in 2024 from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

About humans and animals

Collateral is a solo exhibition by artist Jojo Knowles (SE/USA) in which sculptures and video works expose the absurdities of human-centric thinking. The works show how animals suffer daily as “collateral damage” of human actions – small, often overlooked forms of animal suffering. Knowles explores this by, for example, spending a day with a dead fish, eating raw onions to feel more like a monkey, and commemorating traffic victims. Her work seeks ways to restore our relationship with domesticated animals and to “de-domesticate” ourselves.

This exhibition is made possible in part by Stroom Den Haag and the Amarte Fund.
