Kafka-Fragmente
Classical music
‘The Master of Miniature’ is how Hungarian composer György Kurtág is sometimes referred to. In his Kafka Fragmente, he more than lives up to this title of honour.
The work consists of 40 short movements, often less than a minute long, written for just one violin and one soprano. The text consists of phrases plucked from the diaries and letters of the brilliant Czech writer Franz Kafka.
