Muza Valiaddinzade - Piano Recital
Classical music
Muza, this young, extremely talented pianist brings her impressive piano skills to the Rijswijkse Schouwburg.
Young talent
Muza was born in Azerbaijan. From an early age, Muza developed a love for music and especially the piano. At the age of five, she started taking music lessons at the local music school. It soon became clear that Muza possesses an above-average talent. At 12, she was already playing with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan. At a major music competition in Azerbaijan, she won first prize. This was followed by a government-offered study at the conservatory, something that only the greatest talents get.
Emergency escape from Ukraine
In 2010, the family decides to move to Ukraine. Muza's family loves this country very much and they also have other relatives living there. For some time, Muza continued her studies in Azerbaijan, but this was eventually no longer feasible. She therefore made the decision to finish her masters in Ukraine at the Odessa Conservatory of Music. Life is beautiful and the future looks bright. Until February 2022. Russians invade neighbouring Ukraine on several sides. There is nothing left to do but to flee to the west. Muza and her family are eventually taken care of in Gorinchem.
This is where a new story begins for Muza. Through a local pastor, Muza plays at a Salvation Army evening where Gorinchem residents and refugee Ukrainians gather. Muza's piano playing makes a deep impression. With the pastor's help, they contact a local music shop and they ask whether a piano might be available for Muza to continue playing. That piano comes and is also put in the house where Muza and her family are hosted. Unfortunately, the neighbours turned out not to be charmed. Muza's mother, who also fled to the Netherlands with her, suffered from health problems because of all the tension and went to see a GP. Coincidentally, this GP also knows Ruud de Graaf. He contacted Peeriscoop theatre. Fred Delfgaauw and Monique Masolijn immediately made the theatre available for Muza to play there. And that kicks off the idea of presenting Muza, this young, extremely talented pianist, to Dutch theatres and their audiences.
