In 2025, it will be 90 years since the legendary Elvis Presley was born in a simple 2-bedroom house in Tupelo, USA. And that he is still immensely popular is beyond doubt. The recent Baz Luhrmann film "Elvis" (2022) was a huge success, and on streaming platforms, the film is beating all records. His family and his home Graceland are also still regularly in the news. The King lives.
And this is reflected in the popularity of "The Elvis Concert", a class production put down with great passion and authenticity. Lead singer is the phenominal DWIGHT ICENHOWER (USA), who personifies the looks, voice and charisma of Elvis like no one else. Icenhower is considered the world's best Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA), and he has already won this title five times in Memphis. He is one of the few officially recognised by Graceland. Even in the Netherlands, Dwight is immensely popular among Elvis fans. That in itself is not surprising: seeing is believing!
That this show is unique is shown by the fact that several original musicians and friends of Elvis are taking part in it. Chorister JIM MURRAY worked with Elvis between 1966 and '72, and he can be seen, among other things, in the 1970 concert film "Elvis - That's The Way It Is".
On drums another original Elvis musician.... BOB LANNING, who you can hear on hits like "The Wonder Of You" and "Polk Salad Annie". Lanning is immortalised on "On Stage - February 1970", which is regarded by connoisseurs as the best Elvis live record ever.
