The Graphic Arts Platform at Pulchri Studio
14 Jan - 1 Feb
Exhibition
From 10 January to 1 February 2026, the Mesdagzaal at Pulchri Studio will be exhibiting graphic art in all its forms. Sixty-two members of the Graphic Art Platform will be displaying their work on walls, in display cases and throughout the space. From classic techniques to experimental approaches, this exhibition showcases the richness of graphic art.
The Graphic Arts Platform is a national association that focuses on a passion for graphic arts and craftsmanship. Since 2019, the platform has been operating under this name, originating from the Association for Original Graphic Arts (VOG). It is not only a network, but also a place where ideas and initiatives for contemporary graphic art are developed.
Graphic art as an art form
Although graphic art lends itself to reproduction, it is more than just a technique for repetition. It is precisely the print run that offers scope for experimentation, variation and accessibility. From woodcuts to digital printing, graphic art gives artists the freedom to explore and share images widely.
Techniques and applications
The exhibition displays work in a variety of techniques:
- Relief printing (such as woodcut and linocut), with strong contrasts
- Intaglio printing (etching, engraving, drypoint), with rich lines and tonal transitions
- Planographic printing (lithography), with a drawing-like softness
- Screen printing and digital graphics
Display cases also contain materials and examples of 'efrastics': the combination of text and images.
The power of print runs
In printmaking, prints are produced in limited editions. Each copy is numbered, for example 6/12. This ensures that the work remains exclusive and affordable. Printmaking is all about craftsmanship and physical action – not about copying, but about creating.
Participating artists (selection): Ruud Becker, Henriette Boerendans, Gabrielle Daniels-Gombert, Petra Fenijn, Basement Press Diepenheim, Hannah Kockx, Nicole Montagne, Jurjen Ravenhorst, Canan Topaloglu Hermans, Iris van Lavieren, Carole Witteveen, and many others.
