Following its huge success in 2017, the renowned Shanghai Ballet returns to The Hague with The World's Largest Swan Lake. This special performance drew full houses worldwide and received rave reviews. In 2026, audiences in The Hague will once again be able to enjoy this exceptional performance.

An impressive performance of Tchaikovsky's masterpiece

In the 140-year history of Swan Lake, thousands of performances have been staged, but British choreographer Derek Deane's version is in a class of its own. The spectacle stands out with no fewer than forty-eight swans on stage, twice as many as usual. The precision, harmony and quality of the dancing make this production a unique experience.

The enchanting scenes, formed by the slender “lovebirds”, constantly change into new formations reminiscent of paintings by Degas. The result is a visual highlight that completely captivates the audience.

Shanghai Ballet proves its world-class status

With this large-scale and almost otherworldly performance, the Shanghai Ballet once again demonstrates that it belongs among the absolute best in classical ballet. A performance that is not to be missed.
