Trudie Wals - Connecting
27 Aug - 21 Sep
Exhibition
Artist Trudie Wals presents a solo exhibition as part of the national Graphic Triennial, organised by Grafein. Her work is known for its poetic imagery, which focuses on nature, vulnerability and connection.
Themes in the work of Trudie Wals
Circles of raindrops, flowing water and the line as a lifeline recur throughout her graphic work. These elements symbolise movement, vulnerability and the interconnectedness of humans and nature. The exhibition not only shows existing work, but also recent unique pieces in etching and woodcut. Particularly noteworthy are the small woodcuts inspired by the layered nature of poster walls. This gives the works an extra layer of meaning and texture.
Chine collé and Oriental paper
Trudie Wals often works with chine collé and prints woodcuts on handmade Oriental paper. The visible fibres and wood structures enhance the natural look of her prints. This creates personal, layered images in which material and nature meet.
