The annual Van Hasselt Lecture explores themes related to ethics, peace and justice in today's technological age. The lecture is named after Frans van Hasselt, a Delft student who publicly protested against the dismissal of Jewish professors in 1940. He was arrested and died two years later in the Buchenwald concentration camp.

This year's keynote speaker is Miranda Fricker. She is Julius Silver Professor of Philosophy at New York University and internationally renowned for her work on epistemic injustice, in which she demonstrates how power relations influence everyone's understanding and knowledge formation. Fricker is an influential voice in ethics, feminist philosophy and social epistemology.

The Van Hasselt Lecture is a joint initiative of the Values, Technology and Innovation department of the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management and Studium Generale at Delft University of Technology.

This lecture will be given in English.
