The West Coast Big Band has been one of the leading Dutch big bands for almost 50 years and consists of 17 enthusiastic jazz musicians from the west of the Netherlands.

The band originated in The Hague and now has a permanent rehearsal and concert venue in Gouda. Led by Nils van Haften, the West Coast Big Band is known for its authentic big band jazz of a high musical standard.
The band plays unadulterated big band music and is a regular and welcome guest at major Dutch jazz venues. The West Coast Big Band has performed at LantarenVenster, TivoliVredenburg, the Bimhuis and Amare, often together with top national and international soloists.
During concerts, the West Coast Big Band presents an evening of pure big band jazz, with a selection from a rich and varied repertoire. In recent years, the band has toured with renowned musicians such as Philip Catherine, Bert Joris and Enrico Pieranunzi. In addition, the band has recorded several jazz CDs with a strong focus on Dutch composers and arrangers.
One special project is the album Gibbs Vibes, recorded together with vibraphonist Frits Landesbergen. With this CD, the West Coast Big Band paid tribute to the legendary Terry Gibbs Dream Band. With a wide selection of challenging big band arrangements, the West Coast Big Band continues to innovate and surprise.
