Voces del Mundo - Christmas concert
The Hague-based world choir Voces del Mundo will give a Christmas concert at Maranatha church.
Program
On Saturday 14 December, World Choir Voces del Mundo will give a Christmas concert. In keeping with the choir, this will consist of Christmas and New Year songs from a variety of countries. The programme includes songs from Austria, England, France, Spain, Romania, Croatia and Sweden. The choir will also sing two lullabies from South Africa.
The concert also includes two premieres. Very special is a contemporary Icelandic Christmas song which the choir will perform for the first time.
The vocal programme is interspersed with instrumental music by the trio The Lowland Minstrels. The trio consists of violinist Phoebe Pan, Nitai Riello playing the dulcian, a Renaissance wind instrument, and Ekaterina Uvarova. She plays the Baroque guitar and the teorbe, a large long-necked lute often heard in Baroque music.
Voces del Mundo is a polyphonic choir and it consists of 45 singers divided into four voice groups. With great enthusiasm and pleasure, the choir sings (a cappella) under the direction of conductor Jorina van Bergen. As far as we know, Voces del Mundo is the only choir of its kind in the region of The Hague.
