Kompaan Thuishaven in Den Haag

Discover the Binckhorst industrial district

Favourites
A stone's throw from The Hague city centre, you'll find the Binckhorst: shrouded with plenty of young, creative, small large and unusual businesses. Experience the urban feel here! In recent years, the Binckhorst (Binck) has developed into a hotspot for street art and other creative expressions. It is therefore the place to spot street art.

There is no shortage of creativity anyway: many old buildings have been transformed into creative work environments and other new businesses are setting up shop in the neighbourhood. This creates a unique mix of old and new. The Caballero factory, once a well-known cigarette factory in The Hague, is now a creative work environment. The Victory Boogie Woogie tunnel makes it easy for traffic from Delft, Rotterdam and Ypenburg to drive to and from the Binckhorst. From the centre of The Hague or from The Hague Laan van Noi station, grab the shared bike (or scooter) and you'll be in this district in ten minutes.

Horeca in the Binckhorst

With fine catering establishments like Loetje, Capriole Café (tip: be sure to bring a bag of freshly roasted coffee beans from the coffee roastery!) and Kompaan, the Binckhorst is a fun district to explore:

Restaurant Glaswerk - Fokkerkade 14

Further down the Fokkerhaven, Restaurant Glaswerk is a great place to sit on the waterfront terrace. Chef Martijn Lagrand creates the most beautiful and surprising dishes. Hostess Rosalie Brand ensures a perfect atmosphere & ambiance and the right wine/food combinations.

Capriole Café - Fokkerkade 18

Restaurant Capriole Café is a much-loved hotspot in The Hague! Tucked away in a beautiful industrial location by the water in the Binckhorst district, this is a lovely place to enjoy organic and fair trade coffee from its own coffee roastery or a fine lunch on the terrace on the Fokkerhaven.

In the evening, the restaurant serves refined dishes from its open kitchen. The converted paint factory on the Trekvliet with its sleek and minimalist design has a warm and homely atmosphere, not least because of the enthusiastic, cordial service.

The popular steak restaurant Loetje has opened yet another location besides an atmospheric one on the Haagse Bluf. In the industrial old boiler house of the former Caballero factory, you can enjoy the most delicious steak. Did you know that there is also a veggie version these days: the Biefstuk Bali 0.0?

Kompaan Brouwerij & Bar - Saturnusstraat 55

Kompaan is a true brewery from The Hague with bar cum tasting room in the Binckhorsthaven. At this industrial location with terrace and beautiful views of the inner harbour and factories, two companions, Jasper and Jeroen, realised their dream in 2015: brewing typical Hague beers. Absolutely recommended for beer lovers and anyone looking for a typical Hague insider tip!
