How nice! You have planned a winter day out in Scheveningen and you want to know the best way to enjoy this coastal city of The Hague with the family. Find out how to have such a family-friendly day full of fun in this article. 

Family stay

A nice adventure starts with a nice stay. For example, choose the Strandhotel, where you will enjoy lovely views and modern family rooms. Another unique option by the sea is the famous Kurhaus or Inntel Hotel. Both with a swimming pool ideal for a day of water fun. Kickstart your morning with a smoothie or pancake for breakfast at Hart Beach, where you immediately get into the laid-back vibe of the coast. Get some fresh air while strolling along the promenade and let the kids have fun at the playground equipment. Hire a beach bike or a scooter and explore the coastline at your own pace. Don't forget the Pier; go for a ride in the SkyView Ferris wheel and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Afternoon

So, active morning behind you? Time to satisfy your hunger! And the nice thing is: Scheveningen offers plenty of eateries that are super for families. The Foodhall Scheveningen with a range of dining options or one of the pancake restaurants like Oma Toos in the harbour or on the Pier. For a special tapas experience, head to ‘t Zusje in the Kurhaus. For fresh fish, head to the harbour at Simonis or the Haringhuisje.

Winter indoor or outdoor activity

Throughout Scheveningen you will also find the most fun activities this winter. Visit the Sand Sculptures during Winters Wonderzand (next to the Pier), get your skates on at CoolEvent or take part in workshops at museums such as Muzee. For film lovers, the latest (Christmas) movies can be seen at Pathé Scheveningen. A visit to Madurodam is also a must.

Looking for an indoor activity? Then go for a combo ticket to Sealife and Legoland, or go bowling, glow golfing or to the escape box at the Palace Promenade. Still have some oomph left? Don't forget to explore some of the Fairy Tale Sculptures by the Sea. Tip: behind these sculptures you will find Museum Beelden aan Zee, currently with an exhibition by Joan Miró. For a magical experience, there are events during the holidays such as Magical Scheveningen on 27, 28 December and 3, 4 January. The lights in the harbour from 14 December add to the atmosphere.

Shopping and strolling

Shopping for the holidays in Scheveningen is a big party. The indoor shopping centre De Palace Promenade is home to sparkling Disney characters this winter, and at Christmas Village in the second harbour you are guaranteed to pick up great gifts for the holidays. For walking enthusiasts, there are several walking routes with light objects in the area. The 5 km Scheveningen Light Walk on 7 December is also perfect for a family outing. Get a breath of fresh air together by the sea before settling down at beach bars such as Waterreus and Aloha. For the little ones, there are playgrounds and petting zoos, such as ‘t Waaygat.

Evening

After a day full of adventure, it is time for a nice meal. Throughout Scheveningen, you will find plenty of restaurants suitable for families. So plenty of options to end the day with good food and good atmosphere on the boulevard, Pier or Foodhall Scheveningen.
