Scheveningen Light Walk
On Saturday 7 December 2024, it's that time again: thousands of enthusiastic walkers will put on their walking shoes and take part in Scheveningen's biggest festival of lights. This year, walkers can take part in a 7.5, 12 or 18 km route. This edition, too, the route will run through a magically lit Scheveningen, with some exciting innovations.
Renewed route for the 7.5 km
A highlight of this edition is the revamped route of the 7.5 km, which takes walkers past the beautifully lit Water Party and the enchanting Westbroek Park. These unique additions will make the walking experience even more unforgettable.
Special extras for participants
To complete the walking experience, every participant will receive a genuine Scheveningen Light Walk cap with lights, a bag and a walking map on a Scheveningen Light Walk keycord. These extras add a practical and festive touch to the walk. Along the way, all walkers can enjoy a free hot chocolate and a tasty oliebol. Participants of the 12 and 18 km will additionally receive mulled wine at Beachclub Aloha to warm up towards the end of a long walk.
Family walk
Scheveningen's biggest light festival is for everyone! This year, there is a Family Walk (7.5 km) especially for families. This walk starts a little earlier, between 17:00 and 18:00. This gives all families enough time to complete the 7.5 km route. In addition, there will be plenty of entertainment and animation on the route, especially for children.
Finish location
This year, the finish is located on Scheveningen's boulevard near the Kurhaus. After the finish, walkers will receive their unique walking pin and be welcomed at the Kurhaus to enjoy their walk afterward. While enjoying a drink, they can discuss the walk afterwards in this exclusive setting and enjoy a musical performance.
Rates, start times and entertainment
Children aged 0 to 5 can participate in the Scheveningen Light Walk for free, while children aged 6 to 11 can participate at a reduced rate of €6.50. For participants from 12 years and older, there will be no price increase compared to the 2022 rates.
The first wave leaves at sunset, as darkness is important for the optimal effect of the luminous and musical acts. These varying start times ensure that everyone has enough time to cover the distance while enjoying the enchanting entertainment along the route.
16.15 to 16.45: start 18 km
17.00 to 18.00: start Family Walk (7.5 km)
18.15 to 19.15: start 12 km
19.30 to 20.15 hrs: start 7.5 km
23.30 hrs: finish line closure
