Animato Kwartet

The Animato Quartet is one of the regular players in the Dutch string quartet honours division and has been showered with awards in recent years. For this concert, they bring along musical friends Laura van der Heijden and Jelmer de Moed to form two quintets in a programme full of contrasts and sophistication.
Boccherini and Mozart both added something extra to the string quartet: Boccherini his own instrument, the cello. Mozart a relatively new invention in his time: the clarinet. Both quintets enchant with their lilting elegance, while Britten's first string quartet brings an expressive twist to the evening with its dynamic tensions.
