Exhibition Aids in the Netherlands
On the 1st of December it is World AIDS Day and GGD Haaglanden pays attention to this with the exhibition Aids in the Netherlands, which can be seen from 1 to 22 December in the Atrium The Hague.
This exhibition provides information in an accessible way about the history of HIV and AIDS in the Netherlands and in The Hague with photos, posters and newspaper clippings. The old newspaper clippings show the fear that prevailed when HIV was discovered and the emergence of activist groups. The exhibit also provides insight into taboos and stigmas against people living with HIV. In addition, the exhibition shows whether a future without new HIV infections is possible and provides insight into HIV care during the corona pandemic.
The exhibition was put together by collaborating partner organizations sexual health in The Hague in 2019: GGD Haaglanden Health Promotion Department, Center Sexual Health GGD Haaglanden, COC Haaglanden, Hiv Vereniging Haaglanden region, Leiden eo, and Buddy Netwerk.
