The Hague kicks off the winter sports season with the Snowfest winter sports festival

From Friday 18 to Sunday 20 December, The Hague will be the setting for Snowfest, a unique winter sports event in the heart of the city. On Laan van Reagan en Gorbatsjov, next to the Koekamp and opposite The Hague Central Station, a real winter sports village is being built, complete with an impressive ski and snowboard jump.

Rock a Rail

Highlights include the Rock A Rail snowboard competition, which returns to its original venue on Friday and Saturday evenings as part of SnowFest. This unique event stands out thanks to its exceptional location and the high calibre of national and international riders.

Urban snowboarding makes use of urban features such as stairs, railings and walls. This discipline forms the basis of Olympic slopestyle snowboarding.

The Hague is the final stop on the Rock A Rail tour, following Hinterlux and Innsbruck (Austria) and Amsterdam. A spectacular show featuring top freestyle skiers and snowboarders is guaranteed.

Rock a Rail Tour Finals

Snowfest The Hague brings a touch of winter magic to our city. The absolute highlight of the festival is the spectacular finals of the European Rock a Rail Tour. The freestyle skiing finals are scheduled for Friday evening, with the snowboarding finals taking place on Saturday evening. Both men’s and women’s events will take place on both days. This year, the event has been further expanded to include, amongst other things, a large covered area and the World Rookie Tour on Sunday: an international youth competition that serves as a springboard for new talent.

Young talent in action

During Snowfest The Hague, Sunday is all about the World Rookie Tour. This international youth competition offers young talents the chance to showcase their skills and gain experience on the international stage. Visitors can enjoy spectacular jumps, creative tricks and plenty of snowboarding action. Who knows, you might even see the snowboarding stars of the future in action here!

Winter Sports Village

During Snowfest, the Koekamp is transformed into a cosy winter village full of snow fun, sport and winter activities. In Snowfest Village, visitors can try out various winter sports for themselves. From sledge rides and taking their first turns on skis or a snowboard to interactive games and fun activities for the whole family. We’ve also thought of our youngest visitors. On Sunday, the winter village is all about children, with plenty of opportunities to get to know winter sports in a fun and safe way.
