Geer Huybers - Sea

The series Storms was created after a severe concussion in 2023, which completely disrupted memory. Although this dark series of 15 works is not shown in the exhibition, it forms the background for the transformation that followed. It was the beginning of a period of introspection and processing.

Out of the Storms emerged the series of Clearances. These works, which symbolise the journey of recovery, are a reflection of the processing process. Part figurative, part abstract, the paintings are fuelled by the subconscious. The exhibition will feature five works from this series, capturing the transition from chaos to clarity.

In addition, the exhibition features a recent series of paintings of sea waves. These works are casual and bright in tone, with a direct link to Huybers' state of mind at the time of painting. The waves are not only natural phenomena, but also symbols of inner peace and dynamism, reflecting in their movement the changes in life.

Sea is a personal and profound exploration of the coping processes that take place after turbulent moments, captured in the silence and power of the ocean.
