Irene van den Bos - Bloom

The beauty of painting is that you can see how it was made: the brushstrokes, the texture, the intense colours. A painting is created through touch. Painting is a physical act. For me, the process is more important than the subject. The essence lies in the application of paint, the choice of colours, the composition of the image and the tension between the different elements. Nature acts as a silent, underlying force. I paint until the moment when figuration dissolves into abstraction and a new reality becomes visible.
