Margriet Westervaarder

Margriet Westervaarder's working method is intuitive. Shape and colour are not explicitly chosen, but rather present themselves and form their own development. The work starts from a print with the etching press. After that, Margriet Westervaarder works directly on paper. She mostly uses pure pigments.
We recognise archetypal forms such as bowl, arch and rectangle, pyramid and circle. Primal forms that carry an appealing meaning that refers to mystery and wholeness, partly due to the colour intensity. In terms of content, her photographic work has a strong connection to painting. It often arises from her travels, especially to the Hymalaya region. A relationship with nature is often visible in Margriet Westervaarder's etchings.
