The Residentie Bachkoor tells the Passion story from the perspective of Mary. The RBK performs three moving Stabat Maters.

The Residentie Bachkoor is known for its traditional performances of the St. Matthew Passion and St. John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach. This year they bring an exciting alternative Passion concert.

The medieval poem Stabat Mater is dedicated to Mary's grief over the suffering of her son, Christ. The Residentie Bachkoor and Residentie Bachorkest will perform three different versions: the world-famous Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1736) in the four-part choir version, the version by the relatively unknown Sicilian Emanuele d'Astorga (1707), and the twentieth-century composition by Knut Nystedt (1986) for choir and a single cello.

The universal theme of a mother deeply grieving for her child, heard in three moving interpretations. An exciting alternative Passion concert on Friday, March 20, in the Nieuwe Badkapel.
