Rising Star Series | Ivan Petrenko

Young Ukrainian pianist Ivan Petrenko (16) is known for his brilliant virtuosity and deep musical sensitivity. He began his musical journey at the age of 4.5 and made his debut at the age of 7. At the age of 8, he first participated in national and international piano competitions, where he consistently won first prizes. His international breakthrough came at the age of 8 in Prague, where he won first prize. Since then, Ivan has received numerous awards.

At the age of 11, Ivan was admitted to the Kyiv State Music Lyceum under the guidance of Tetiana Abaieva, Guest of Honour of Ukraine. Since September 2022, he has continued his musical education at the Davidsbündler Music Academy in The Hague, under the guidance of Tetiana Abaieva and Borys Fedorov. In the past year (2022-2023), Ivan has spent a lot of time in the Netherlands, performing at prestigious venues, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam during the Davidsbündler Fest and the Piano Duo Festival. He was also featured in the TV broadcast Podium Klassiek and played in the ‘RCO Young’ project with orchestras and chamber music ensembles in the large halls of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Konzerthaus in Berlin.

With an impressive range of performances and a growing international reputation, Ivan Petrenko offers a dynamic recital programme interpreting works by Bach, Schumann, Ravel and Stravinsky.
