Songs Of April
Music
Looking for a special musical evening full of meaning? Come to Songs of April, a choral concert that commemorates the power of music during the Carnation Revolution.
The Revolution That Sounds Like Freedom
On the night of 25 April 1974, a silent, musical uprising began in Portugal. The song Grândola, Vila Morena sounded on the radio and signalled the start of the Carnation Revolution. No shots, but voices. No guns, but words and melodies.
During Songs of April, a young choir brings this history to life with traditional Portuguese songs, specially arranged for choir. Each song tells a story of struggle, hope and the dream of a new beginning.
Get carried away by the harmonies of freedom. Discover how music became a symbol of change and why it still inspires.
