Tempera Mente - Seeds of Sorrow

Six musicians from across Europe came together in the Netherlands as part of leading early music ensembles. In 2024, they embarked on a new journey. The programme Seeds of Sorrow takes the audience on a journey through 17th-century Europe. Amidst the devastation of the Thirty Years’ War, poignant music resounds, expressing fear, loneliness and vulnerability. Yet the pain also leaves room for hope: a longing for peace, for joy — for redemption. Despair and consolation echo in the music of Hammerschmidt and Vierdanck.
