Tim Burton’s Universe by La Chapelle Sauvage
Music
Step into the fantastic worlds of Tim Burton and experience an evening where film and music merge. On 21 February, a special concert will take place in the Lutheran Church in the heart of The Hague.
An evening full of imagination, emotion and unforgettable music
From the sparkling wonder of Alice in Wonderland to the festive magic of The Nightmare Before Christmas. From the moving lyricism of Edward Scissorhands to the eccentric splendour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This concert takes the audience on a journey through the musical landscapes that make Tim Burton's film universe so recognisable.
The evening is dedicated to the music of Danny Elfman. Tim Burton's lifelong collaborator is considered one of the most influential film composers of our time. Elfman's music interweaves playfulness with menace, tenderness with grandeur, and is a perfect reflection of Burton's visual imagination. The programme also includes memorable excerpts from Corpse Bride, the cult classic Beetlejuice, the dark power of Batman and the intense drama of Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
During this premiere, La Chapelle Sauvage brings the music to life in new and surprising arrangements. Expect floating vocal lines, distinctive instrumental colours and an atmosphere that effortlessly shifts from macabre to magical and from subdued to epic.
This concert is more than a collection of film scores. It is a live theatrical experience in which music and architecture reinforce each other. The special acoustics of the Lutheran Church provide an intense and compelling experience.
