Zuiderpark Live: Harrie Jekkers
26 Jun - 27 Jun
Music
Harrie Jekkers (The Hague, 1951) is a Dutch singer, writer and comedian. After studying English, he worked in education for several years. In 1978, he founded the pop group Klein Orkest, known for hits such as 'Over de Muur' and award-winning albums such as Roltrap naar de maan.
In addition to his music, Jekkers built a successful writing career with satirical novels, children's books and theatre scripts, often in collaboration with Koos Meinderts. From the late 1980s onwards, he created various solo theatre programmes, including Het gelijk van de koffietent (The Coffee Shop's Right), for which he received great acclaim. In the 1990s and 2000s, he performed various programmes in the Netherlands and Belgium. After a long break, he returned to the stage, among others with Jeroen van Merwijk and later again with Klein Orkest and his solo programme Achter de Duinen (Behind the Dunes) in The Hague.
Harrie Jekkers can now be seen at the Zuiderparktheater with his show 'In mijn liedjes kan ik wonen' (I can live in my songs). This performance focuses on songs: not only his own repertoire, but also songs by artists who inspired him in his youth. As always, Jekkers links the songs together in a humorous way, creating a musical autobiography and a journey through his world of songs.
