Clone of The Lasses - Acoustic Alley

'A brilliant ode to the human voice'
About The Lasses, Niamh Parsons said early this year: 'I don't have to teach you anything more'. The Lasses are Sophie Janna and Margot Merah, two Dutch women who have been enchanting audiences at home and abroad with their music for years. With their unpolished, pure approach, this duo is reminiscent of Kate & Anna McGarrigle or Gillian Welch. But with their origins in the Irish folk tradition, The Lasses still sound mostly like themselves.
Folk gems
Their repertoire consists of lesser-known folk gems from the Irish, Scottish and American folk tradition and their own work that fits perfectly in between. Their previous album Undone was number one on the Euro Americana Charts for months. Follow-up album Near Far, inspired by their tour of Scotland's folk clubs, is brand new when they come to play at Acoustic Alley: it will be released on 20 October.
Margot and Sophie accompany themselves on guitar, bodhrán, tenor-ukulele and shrutibox. The focus is always on singing together, with the voices complementing and enhancing each other perfectly.
