Beethovens Pastorale
Music
Anna Clyne's cello concerto Dance stands alongside Beethoven's Pastorale. Contemporary alongside classical, but both a fascinating interplay of lyricism and energy.
On this evening, you will hear the Dutch premiere of Dance - the highly acclaimed cello concerto by British composer Anna Clyne. One of the most performed contemporary composers, she drew her inspiration from the mystical verses of the Persian poet Rumi. The work's five movements - focusing on themes of loss, love and acceptance - demonstrate her ability to translate deeply human emotions into music. Cellist Camille Thomas does full justice to the poetic power of the piece.
