Cristina Ursu - About the world
16 Aug - 7 Sep
Exhibition
In her penetrating work on paper, made with deep black ink and acrylic paint, Cristina Ursu gives a powerful and personal response to the turbulence of our times. With earthy colour tones and expressive, sometimes savage brushstrokes, she portrays themes such as environmental issues and war violence.
Her paintings, ranging from abstract landscapes to solitary figures and restless crowds, touch on universal feelings of loss, powerlessness and hope.
Ursu's style is raw and direct, but at the same time steeped in compassion. She tells stories without words, showing pain and injustice without illustrating it, making them tangible is enough. Her work forces you to look and think. It is not a detached protest, but a committed call: to awareness, to humanity, to action.
