Shijith and Parvathy - Nirvrithi
Ballet
An Indian dance performance about Nirvrithi: a deep, inexplicable ecstasy. Two Indian dancers take you on a spiritual journey at the Korzo Theatre.
About the performance
Nirvrithi means a state of deep, inexplicable ecstasy. In this dance performance, Shijith and Parvathy take you on a personal and spiritual journey towards this ultimate happiness. They do so through Bharatanatyam, the ancient dance form from South India in which stories are told with precise movements, hand gestures (mudras), expressive facial expressions and rhythmic patterns.
Central to this is the Margam – a traditional structure that guides the dancer step by step along an inner quest. In Nirvrithi, this Margam takes on a contemporary, conceptual form, in which the philosophical principle of Sat – Chit – Ānanda (truth, consciousness and bliss) comes to life.
Nirvrithi arises from the inner world of the creators: thoughts, emotions and energies that together set body, mind and soul in motion. For Shijith and Parvathy, Bharatanatyam is a spiritual home. With Nirvrithi they share their own experience of surrender, connectedness and pure joy.
After this performance, there will be time for an in-depth discussion.
