Proximity Music: Echoes of Entropy
4 Apr - 13 Apr
Exhibition
Zimoun brings a roaring beast to life in Pulchri Studio's upstairs rooms. From 4 to 6 April, Pulchri Studio will be part of Proximity Music, a programme component of the international festival Rewire 2025, organised in collaboration with iii. Swiss sound artist Zimoun will take over the upper floor completely, creating a monumental installation in which mechanical movement and sound come together.
Using DC motors, piano strings, metal drums and water containers, he awakens a rhythmic and pulsating whole, balancing between order and chaos. The resonant spaces invite visitors to immerse themselves in a vibrating microstructure, where the acoustic hum seems to breathe like a living organism.
‘Proximity Music: Echoes of Entropy’ explores how chaos and entropy can be not only disruptive, but also creative. In this installation, the unpredictability of mechanical processes becomes palpable, creating a hypnotic dialogue between control and chance. A unique, sensory experience that will keep Pulchri Studio buzzing for a fortnight.
