Vivaldi - The Four Seasons
On 9 May, a special performance of The Four Seasons will be held in the Grote Kerk in The Hague. The Mystery Ensemble will play Antonio Vivaldi's famous cycle in a contemporary recomposition by Max Richter.
British composer Max Richter reimagined Vivaldi's famous work, inspired by minimalism and postmodernism. Since its release in 2012, Vivaldi Recomposed has become one of his best-known compositions, and the recording topped the iTunes Classical Music charts in more than twenty countries.
Richter is internationally renowned as a composer of music for films and documentaries. He has written music for films such as Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island and Waltz with Bashir. In 2008, he was named Best Film Composer by the European Film Academy.
During this concert, the Mystery Ensemble will bring Richter's adaptation of Vivaldi's famous work to life. The Four Seasons is one of the most frequently performed compositions in classical music and musically depicts the changes in nature throughout the year.
