At the end of the nineteenth century, there was no getting around it: lavish illustrations of stylized, graceful women. One of the most influential and celebrated artists in fin-de-siècle Paris, Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) created a distinctive style synonymous with Art Nouveau. Kunstmuseum Den Haag is showing a wide selection of his work this spring in collaboration with the Mucha Foundation.

The exhibition also includes work from its own collection. His popular posters and illustrations, together with colorful glass and spectacular costumes from the late nineteenth century, provide a unique picture of Alphonse Mucha's Paris. But his influence on pop culture from the 60s and 70s is also evident in this exhibition.”
