Fancy a date that's a little different from a trip to the beach or drinks on the Plein? The Hague is full of surprising date spots that are perfect for a first date, a spontaneous afternoon or a romantic outing together!
1 Love on stage
Laugh together at a stand-up comedy show, sing your heart out in one of the karaoke booths at BLÊR or buy a ticket for a performance. The Hague has plenty of venues, all offering a varied programme.
Samen blèren in de karaoke booth bij Bleyenberg en daarna een drankje op de rooftop. Durf jij een duet aan?
2 A date with jeu
Jeu de boules is no longer just for pensioners! The Hague has lots of different places to play jeu de boules. Is the sun shining? Then the court on Prins Hendrikplein in the Zeeheldenkwartier is a great place to play! Is the weather less favourable? Then Mooie Boules in the Haagsche Bluf is the place to be. In addition to a game of petanque, you can also enjoy cocktails and street food.
3 Date with seaview
Hop on the Ferris wheel at the Pier for the view, then swap that for some action during a surfing lesson or whizz down the zip line at the Pier. Fancy a chat afterwards? The coast is full of cosy places for a drink and a bite to eat; the Foodhall at Scheveningen is a great tip!
4 A culinary ride
Hop aboard the Hoftrammm, a classic Hague tram that has been converted into a mobile restaurant. Enjoy a delicious four-course dinner during a ride through the city. This unique experience combines culinary delights with a sightseeing tour of The Hague. (Perhaps not ideal for a first date, because you can't go anywhere if the conversation stops!
5 For those who are tired of Netflix
Forget the standard cinema and opt for an arthouse cinema date in The Hague. Think intimate theatres, special films and just that little bit more atmosphere. One of these arthouse cinemas is definitely worth a visit: Filmhuis The Hague, Theater en Filmhuis Dakota & Flora Filmtheater.
6 Soaking up culture together
Looking for a date that feels different from the norm? Go and soak up some culture together! From museums to small galleries, there is always something to discover. Plenty to talk about over a drink afterwards.
The Hague has loads of museums. Perfect for a cultural date!
7 Among the greenery
Want to escape the city for a while? Plan a date surrounded by greenery. Take a walk through the Haagse Bos and spot the Royal Family's residence, have a picnic in Park Clingendael or find a quiet spot together at Landgoed Ockenburgh. Did you know that the most popular city park in the Netherlands is also in The Hague? Emma's Hof city garden is tucked away next to Weimarstraat, a cosy oasis in the middle of the city!
8 Tasting together
What could be more fun than discovering something new? That's right, discovering something new together! You can do just that during a tasting at Van Kleef, a historic gin and liqueur distillery in the heart of The Hague. Here you can taste different gins and liqueurs and learn not only about what's in your glass, but also about each other. A little nervous at first? A good glass will take the edge off. Raise a toast, taste and see where the evening takes you.
9 Street art & coffee
Searching for street art together turns your date into a mini adventure! In the city centre, Binckhorst, Laak and Scheveningen, you will spot colourful murals in unexpected places. Perfect for wandering around together, taking photos and grabbing a coffee at a local hotspot along the way.
The Hague has so much beautiful street art. Discover them all!
10 Workshop with sparks
Roll up your sleeves and get started. A creative date is not about perfection, but about having fun. Laugh at failed artworks, help each other out and discover each other's creative side. Paint ceramics, make your own candle or go wild with a tufting machine and make your own rug. This way, you'll create something that will remind you of that special date.
