The Music of Harry Potter by the Mystery Ensemble
During this concert, the Mystery Ensemble will perform music from the Harry Potter films at the historic Big Church in the centre of The Hague. The programme is inspired by the films based on J.K. Rowling’s books and features well-known musical themes from the film series.
The music of Harry Potter
Composer John Williams wrote the soundtrack for the first Harry Potter film in Los Angeles and Tanglewood. The music was recorded in September 2001 at Abbey Road Studios and Air Lyndhurst Studios in London.
The film score features several recurring musical themes. One of these is Hedwig’s Theme. This composition reappears in adapted form in all the Harry Potter films. Several themes from the first film can also be heard in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The soundtrack was released on CD on 30 October 2001. The album achieved gold status in Canada and Japan and reached number 48 on the Billboard 200, number 2 on the Top Soundtracks chart and number 19 on the UK charts.
John Williams was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2002. That year, the award went to Howard Shore for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Music from The Lord of the Rings is also featured in other concert programmes by Mystery Ensemble.
Mystery Ensemble at the Big Church
Mystery Ensemble will be performing the music at the Grote Kerk in the centre of The Hague. The concert brings together the familiar music, atmosphere and stories from the Harry Potter films.
The concert is being organised by RED EVENTS & Distribution Ltd. The agency organises cultural events at various venues across Europe, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, Georgia and other countries. The programme includes, amongst other things, candlelit concerts and performances combining video art and music.
