Autumn walks and outdoor activities in The Hague

Autumn walk at Ockenburgh Country Estate

Walking at Ockenburgh is always a pleasure, but in autumn you stroll past blooming heath and crisp leaves, forgetting you’re still in the city. End your walk with something tasty at Villa Ockenburgh.

Spotting mushrooms at Clingendael Park

Clingendael is the perfect spot for an autumn walk. The colours of the trees are beautiful, and you’ll find many different mushrooms – even the classic red-and-white ones. Don’t miss the Japanese Garden, open only a few weeks in autumn.

'Pancakes, animals, culture, nature and a very large playground: Meijendel is the ideal place to have fun with the whole family.'

Hiking in the dunes

Meijendel is the largest continuous dune area in South Holland. Walk or cycle through the dunes, visit the De Tapuit visitor centre, and finish with pancakes or a stop at the large playground. A perfect family outing.

Near the visitor centre is a large playground and a pancake farm where you can take the whole family.

Fresh air at The Hague’s beaches

With over 11 kilometres of coastline, The Hague is a true beach city – even in autumn. After a refreshing walk, warm up at one of the beach cafés that remain open year-round. Hot chocolate has never tasted better than after 'uitwaaien' at a breezy day by the sea.
