Did you know that The Hague is the largest city by the sea in the Netherlands and the greenest city of Europe? With a coastline that stretches no less than 11 km, wide sandy beaches, beautiful dune areas and many large parks, The Hague literally offers you a sea of space this summer. You can get to the beach from the city centre within 15 minutes. The Hague stands for space, green and a high-quality selection of art and culture. Visit the Mauritshuis, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Museum Voorlinden, Escher in the Palace or experience the Prison Gate Museum. There are masterpieces hanging in The Hague that you can only see here.
The Hague has so much more to offer than just the popular hot spots. We will be more than happy to help you discover the hidden gems. You can find tranquillity and space in Clingendael, a very lovely country estate park consisting of large wooded areas, grassy meadows, a farm and the beautiful garden by the country house from 1818 with symmetrical landscaping and many box hedges. Close to Kijkduin, is where you will find the Madestein recreational park. It is one of the largest green open spaces in The Hague. It’s a great place to go windsurfing, canoeing, fishing or for having a picnic or barbeque on the grassy meadows around the large lake that is safe to swim in. Craving the beach and sea but want to avoid the crowds? Then our next tip for a hidden gem is the Zuiderstrand, also known as the ‘quiet beach’. There is always plenty of space! The beach is wide, quiet and borders the beautiful protected nature reserve of Westduinpark (West Dune Park) where, if you keep your eyes open, you will find the bunker ruins from World War II and Scottish Highland cows grazing freely.More Hidden Gems
