Ciconia Consort & Alexandra Bidi - Sunday-morning concert
In 'Sunflowers and Lavender', the Ciconia Consort takes you on a captivating and colourful journey through the French musical landscape of the 20th century. The hues of sunflowers, lavender and poppies, known from artists such as Van Gogh and Monet, also inspired a whole generation of composers to create innovative harmonies and sounds.
Olivier Messiaen is even known to have said that, through his colour synesthesia, a colour perception inadvertently led to a direct sensory sound experience. After the lightness and gaiety of the Groupe des Six, socially engaged artists such as Castérède, Jolivet and Lesur are rising to take the international stage by storm with a more human and less abstract way of composing. French harpist Alexandra Bidi, prizewinner of the prestigious international ARD Musikwettbewerb 2023, shines in the harp concerto Conte Fantastique by André Caplet, a pupil of Debussy.

After the concert, a cosy afterglow will be organised. At the bar, you can order bubbles (with or without alcohol) and cheese from local cheese & delicatessen Verkade & Jacques, then listen to an interview following the concert. Participation in the cheese buffet and drinks can be paid at the bar.
