Can one walk through a novel?
In the Mulch Sleep exhibition, Baha Görkem Yalım introduces you to the exhibition novel, a form of writing in a space, without the use of words.
Language has an undeniable influence on our perception. It dictates the way we view the world. Dominant narratives are accompanied by a history of oppression, hierarchy and inequality. Yalım's exploration of what language can be subverts these dominant narratives by using the tools of autofiction and sleep. With this, Yalım tells a personal story, but shared by many.
Mulch Sleep is an exhibition in sleep mode that creates an in-between world in which one can dream away again. Amid sculptural works, videos, sounds and installations that poetically combine a sense of alienation and familiarity, comfort and sterility, visitors join a slumbering presence. Do you dream along with it?
