Insomnio - God's own Musicians
For Insomnio, the sound of birds has for years inspired programmes that each time result in surprising concerts with new and existing works. Amare presents these concerts under the title ‘God's own musicians’, free after Olivier Messiaen's quote.
In God's own musicians#3, the sounds of birds not only enrich complex contemporary music, they also contribute to the accessibility of a genre often perceived as unruly. In this sense, the birds and bird sounds in the programme are both inspirations for composers Jonathan Harvey and Seung-Won Oh and guides for the audience.
Insomnio complements the programme with a new work by Jacob ter Veldhuis, juxtaposing with his work sounds of the craziest bird - man. The three compositions together form an intriguing palette around connection between people, between man and environment and between man and himself.
Programme:
- Jacob ter Veldhuis What's wrong with you?
- Seung-Won Oh Vanapriya, beloved forest
- Jonathan Harvey Bird concert with piano song
