Simone van den Heuvel - De Loop der Dingen
28 Mar - 1 Apr
Exhibition
Simone van den Heuvel paints on industrial sites, construction sites and in engine rooms, as well as in abandoned or forgotten places where nature takes its course. Her work captures the contrasts between human creation and decay, between presence and emptiness.
A personal theme emerges in this exhibition: her mother's ‘forgetting’ due to dementia. Simone incorporates memories in drawings and paintings on her mother's annotation sheets and uses the vast amount of stuff left behind as inspiration for an impressive installation. In it, she plays with the excess of objects and the emptiness of storage spaces, where past and present merge.
The exhibition shows a layered combination of oil paintings, drawings, photographs and an installation. A probing and poetic experience about transience, memory and the traces left behind.
