Posters for Peace
27 Apr - 30 Jun
Exhibition
What if art could warn of what is to come? In Posters for Peace, Museum Dedel shows how early artists depicted the fears and hopes of an entire century. The exhibition is a powerful journey through posters full of anger, hope and a call for peace, right at the intersection of past, future and the human soul.
An artistic cry for peace
At Museum Dedel, you walk through a timeline of feelings. The exhibition Posters for Peace shows how artists at the beginning of the 20th century already foresaw disasters that still capture our imagination today. The posters resemble predictions: from ancient Mayan cycles to modern mass destruction. Each work reflects a deep-seated fear of the unknown, but also a call to the good side of man. Politically engaged illustrators and designers use colour, text and images to send a clear message: stop the violence, choose peace. In a world full of threat, the power of art continues to amaze and connect.
