Noordhaus - The Dumb Waiter
A comedy full of menace. Two hitmen await a new job in a British basement. Tensions mount, hilarity ensues.
A menacing play of humour and suspense
In a Birmingham basement, 2 hitmen wait patiently for their next assignment. Ben and Gus have only each other for company and an uncertain task ahead of them. Filling the time should be easy enough, with casual conversation and reminiscing about previous jobs until the dumb waiter at the back of the room starts moving.
The Dumb Waiter is a one-act, absurd and tragic-comic play written by British playwright Harold Pinter in 1957. With a menacing comedy characteristic of Pinter's early works, the play has a different approach and dramatic style from the absurdist works produced so far.
