Zuiderparktheater

The annual ‘Klassiek in het Zuiderpark’ is one of the musical highlights of The Hague’s summer. In the atmospheric Zuiderpark Theatre, the Residentie Orkest presents an evening of romantic classical music, set against the green backdrop of the Zuiderpark in The Hague.

Residentie Orkest shines at ‘Classical Music in the Zuiderpark’

Under the baton of the young British conductor Kerem Hasan, the orchestra opens the evening with the colourful overture from Carl Maria von Weber’s opera *Euryanthe*. The music begins mysteriously and builds into an impressive interplay of lyrical melodies, tension and dramatic power.

This is followed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s monumental Fifth Symphony. This masterpiece takes the audience on a journey through longing, struggle, hope and, ultimately, a glorious victory. With its powerful opening, elegant middle movements and impressive finale, this symphony has been one of the most beloved works in classical music for over a century.

The Zuiderpark Summer Concert is part of Symphony 2030 – RO in the Neighbourhood, an initiative of the Residentie Orkest. Under the banner of RO in the Neighbourhood, the orchestra brings together young and old, local residents and the city through the power of music.
